Ryanair has announced two new routes to Portugal from Bristol and Leeds for next summer. From April, the carrier will operate three weekly flights from the South West airport to Porto, while also flying twice weekly from Yorkshire.
The budget airline has also announced a new route from Exeter airport to Faro, which will operate twice weekly from June 2023.
Ryanair’s Dara Brady said: “With Easter and summer ’23 fast approaching, we are delighted to be bringing even more choice and value to our customers in England with the addition of these new Porto routes to our Summer ‘23 schedule, offering our customers in Bristol and Leeds even more choice when planning their long-awaited summer holidays."
The news comes as Ryanair reached a deal with its pilots in Ireland after months of talks. The airline said the four-year agreement would restore the pay cuts that pilots took during the pandemic. It follows a deal in July which promised similar terms for all pilots outside Ireland and Belgium. The agreement means Ryanair has now reached settlements with unions across Europe, with the exception of Belgium.
Earlier in December, Ryanair also announced its boss, Michael O'Leary, would remain as chief executive until 2028. As part of the contract, Mr O'Leary has been granted a four-year extension on a share options deal that was originally due to end in 2024. It means he has been given has been given another four years to secure a blockbuster bonus of €100m (£86.4m), which will be handed to him only if he meets profit targets.
Mr O'Leary has been at the helm of Ryanair for nearly 30 years after being appointed chief executive in 1994. He transitioned to group chief executive in 2019.
