Ryanair flight from Dublin Airport diverted 1,000km away from destination after emergency on board

A Ryanair flight that departed Dublin on Monday was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport 1,000km from its destination.

The FR7032 flight left Dublin at 7.15am and was due to arrive in Faro, Portugal three hours later.

However, at round 9am, the plane was spotted on one flight tracking site "descending rapidly" and appearing to divert to Bordeaux in France.

The flight was forced to change course and make an emergency landing after a passenger became ill on board.

The plane landed normally and the individual was met by medics in Bordeaux for further treatment.

The flight departed for its intended destination a short while later.

One passenger on the Ryanair flight commended staff for how they handled the emergency situation.

They said: "Looks like everything ok. Passenger has disembarked for some routine tests. Certainly no panic amongst @Ryanair crew or med team in Bordeaux.

"A minor inconvenience considering how serious it could have been. Well done to everyone for handling it so well."

A Ryanair spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "This flight from Dublin to Faro (28 Feb) diverted to Bordeaux after a customer became ill on board.

"The crew called ahead to request medical assistance upon arrival, the aircraft landed normally, the customer disembarked and was met by medics for further treatment."
