A nan was horrified by the price discrepancy when she looked to book a Ryanair flight to the Spanish resort of Alicante.
Mo Cummings, from Old Swan, wanted to book a Ryanair flight from Liverpool John Lennon airport on September 5, and was quoted a "value fare" of £235.99, departing at 6.15am. She then asked her son Paul, who lives in Bristol, what was the cost for a Ryanair flight on the same day from the city's airport - and he got a figure of just £21.99 for a "value fare" flight leaving at 1.55pm.
Mo, 61, said: "It was scandalous they were charging nearly 11 times as much to leave from Liverpool. I couldn't afford that, which was why I asked my son to check what the fare was from the Bristol airport nearest to him. Before anyone asks why I don't travel to Bristol first, it's too far for me to drive and have you seen the price of the trains?

"I also know there are no LFC European games on that date either. They always put flights up then as well. My partner and me don't go away during the school holidays, but the prices are just getting dearer and dearer."
Mo, who works part-time for the NHS as a finance administrator, added: "I've also looked at flights from Newcastle as I have family there as well. They are still cheaper to Alicante so can't say it's the cost of fuel because Newcastle is further away."
Mum-of-four Mo, who also has a grandson, said she used to take up to four or five cheap holidays a year before covid struck, but she was now deterred by the escalating costs of travel.
Ryanair have been approached for comment.
