Ryanair and Jet2 issue fresh France travel warnings

Airlines Ryanair and Jet2 have both warned passengers that they could face delays due to French Air Traffic Control (ATC) strikes. The walkouts, which are planned until Saturday, April 8, impact flights passing through French airspace.

Ryanair said it expects flights to and from France to be “cancelled or delayed” in the coming days, while Jet2 warned of delays for the next week. The ATC walkouts are part of a wave of cross-sector strike action which has erupted across France in recent weeks.

In a statement on its website, Ryanair said: “Due to ongoing French Air Traffic Control (ATC) Strikes, we are expecting cancellations or delays on flights to/from France on 27-31 March. All affected passengers will be notified as soon as possible.”

Ryanair urged customers to monitor its app and website for any updates on their flights. It apologised for any inconvenience and added that it was “entirely out of Ryanair’s control”.

Jet2 said it was "working hard to minimise any delays" (PA)

Jet2 also warned passengers that they could face delays in the week ahead. It said: “We wanted to let you know that industrial strike action is taking place from 16:00 BST on Tuesday 14th March until 05:00 BST on Saturday 8th April 2023, supported by the Air Traffic Service in France. This means that flights operating to or through French airspace may be delayed.”

It added: “Our UK-based Operations teams are working hard to minimise any delays and rest assured we’ll have you on your way as soon as we can. If you are on a Jet2holiday, your transfer remains unaffected and will collect you at your scheduled collection time.”

The airline advised customers to check its website and departure screens at the airport for the latest updates.
