No-frills airline Ryanair is boosting its winter schedule by more than one million seats to and from 20 UK airports with annual customer numbers climbing to more than 166.5 passengers. The announcement follows the bombshell that British Airways is slashing its winter programme by 10,000 flights from Heathrow.
Additional Ryanair flights will include destinations in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Greece and France from UK airports including Stansted, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It promises more choice, better reliability, and lower fares for its UK customers.
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary said: “While BA is cancelling eight per cent of its winter schedule due to staff shortages and Heathrow’s capacity restrictions, Ryanair is now adding more than one million low-fare seats to our largest ever UK winter schedule."
Fares are available from £29.99.
Meanwhile, Ryanair is adding special city getaway fares this September and October, with tickets from just £19.99. Some 45,000 seats are available across 240 routes but must be booked before September 5.
Ryanair director of marketing, Dara Brady, said: “As Europe’s favourite airline, Ryanair operates over 3,000 daily flights connecting our customers with must-see cities and experiences all over Europe. With that, we are delighted to offer our customers 45,000 seats from just £19.99 with over 240 routes to choose from, including top city getaways, such as Faro, Barcelona and Prague."
