Budget airline Ryanair has added over a million seats to and from 20 UK airports this winter including Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The expansion includes flights to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Greece and France with fares starting from £29.99 from airports such as Stansted, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
Ryanair publicised its growing winter schedule in a statement that mocked the UK's busiest airport as 'hopeless Heathrow'. The announcement follows the recent cancellation of 10,000 BA flights from Heathrow amid the hub's daily passenger cap.
The no-frills airline is also offering budget city break fares from £19.99 this September and October to destinations like Faro, Barcelona and Prague if booked by September 5.
Meanwhile, the Ryanair cabin crew in Spain began a five-month series of strikes this month. Workers are walking out every week from Monday to Thursday through January 2023.
The airline has insisted the industrial action will have "zero impact" on flights this August and September.
Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary said: "While BA is cancelling eight per cent of its winter schedule due to staff shortages and Heathrow's capacity restrictions, Ryanair is now adding more than one million low-fare seats to our largest ever UK winter schedule."
"As Europe's favourite airline, Ryanair operates over 3,000 daily flights connecting our customers with must-see cities and experiences all over Europe," said the firm's director of marketing, Dara Brady.
"With that, we are delighted to offer our customers 45,000 seats from just £19.99 with over 240 routes to choose from, including top city getaways, such as Faro, Barcelona and Prague."
