Ryan Yates delivers Nottingham Forest verdict after Sheffield United draw

Ryan Yates says a point is the "least we deserved" after he netted Nottingham Forest's equaliser against promotion rivals Sheffield United.

Forest shared the spoils at Bramall Lane in dramatic fashion after falling 1-0 down to a Billy Sharp strike.

But the midfielder sealed a valuable point in the Reds' journey to promotion as they sit just two off the promotion play-offs in eighth place.

Speaking post-match, Yates said: "It was the least we deserved. First half, thought we were really, really good.

"It was a game we wanted a high tempo, press high, I think when we played them at home we gave them a little bit too much respect.

"We need to be winning games, I thought out tactics were spot on, obviously disappointed they sort of scored against the runner play, great goal to be fair - I've watched it back across goal.

"Then more relief than anything that we've got a point, with them sort of being direct rivals for the play-off spots, we couldn't get beat tonight."

On being well positioned for the goal, the 24-year-old added: "Usually I run towards the near post zone, but I just felt there was space so I wanted to mix it up.

"Jimmy's put it exactly where I wanted it to go and it was such a good feeling to score."

Forest's focus will now turn to the FA Cup fifth-round as they take on fellow Championship side Huddersfield Town at the City Ground on Monday evening (7:30pm kick-off).
