RTE star Ryan Tubridy has said he is gearing up to act like a “goofball” as the countdown to the Late Late Toy Show begins.
But the host warned he will be keeping in mind the cost-of-living crisis many families are facing this Christmas.
The RTE Radio 1 presenter said: “We were going to go a little more heavy. Not heavy but grown up.

“Then a few weeks ago, I said, ‘Hang on, why are we going grown up?’
“So now I’m going to be more of a goofball character….but of course I can’t say who,” he told the Rte Guide.
This Friday, the Late Late studio will be transformed into the magical Toy Show as the theme continues to be kept a closely guarded secret among cast and crew members.
But he revealed there’s a touch of “school’s out, lets go for it” about this year’s theme.
“I spent some time this morning endeavouring to dance and yesterday, singing – my jazz hands are back. In terms of the show itself, we’re going very big this year.
“There’s a touch of ‘school’s out, let’s go for it.’”
The father-of-two also reflected on his first toy show after talking over the helm from Gay Byrne and Pat Kenny.
“When I got the first one, I was tentative. As if I was going into a cave, thinking, ‘What am I going to find here?
“How do I navigate this place?’
“So I did the first one and that was fine… then it went on and on and on and just got bigger and bigger.
“Eventually we had this point where we went, ‘It is the Toy Show, but actually it’s the kids’ show.
“The toys are great as a way into talking to them, getting into their world.”
