Ryan Thomas has shared his reaction to his daughter's Waterloo Road debut which aired tonight.
Ryan, 38, was ever the proud dad as his 14-year-old daughter Scarlett, whom he shares with ex Tina O'Brien, made her on-screen debut on the Rochdale-based drama as it returned to BBC after seven years away.
In the show's revival, teenager Scarlett plays Donte Charles (played by Ryan's brother Adam Thomas) and Chlo Grainger's daughter Izzie.
Meanwhile, Adam's real-life son Teddy, is playing Donte and Chlo's son Teddy in the drama.
As the first episode aired, which saw Katie Grainger's character Chlo tragically killed off in shock scenes, Ryan reacted to seeing three of his family members on-screen as he watched the return of Waterloo Road.
Proud Ryan filmed a scene of Adam and Scarlett together in a clip on his Instagram story and tagged the pair.
Speaking of the debut episode, Ryan revealed he had already watched the episode before it aired.
He said: "What a time to be alive. Tonight, BBC One, 8pm, Waterloo Road, my little brother Adam, my little nephew Teddy and eldest daughter Scarlett take over the TV screen together as a family.
"Talk about a proud moment for the Thomases!
"Wow. I can't wait for you guys to see it. We watched it together as a family."
He added: "It's beyond beautiful, so well shot and an incredible storyline."
It comes as some fans were left in floods of tears as Chlo was killed off in the first episode of the show's return.
The BBC programme returned tonight for a run of new episodes after over seven years off air.
The episode saw Chlo suffer a knock from a car and hit her head. She fell to the ground but seemed ok after with just a bruised wrist, which was quickly bandaged up for her by one of the teachers.
However, there was a shock twist tonight as Chlo was rushed to hospital after suffering with pain in her head. Her daughter called an ambulance and they rushed with her to hospital but it was too late.
The medical professional confirmed that Chlo had passed away, leaving Donte and his kids in tears.
Fans were left in shock, too as one wrote on Twitter : " #WaterlooRoad WHY IS SHE DEAD LIKE HOW WHY WHEN?," as another viewer penned: "Omg @WaterlooRoad are you joking, amazing first episode #WaterlooRoad."
A third wrote: "Is anyone else screaming at the tv after the end of the first episode of #WaterlooRoad ? @WaterlooRoad."
Chlo actress Katie Griffiths teased the dramatic scenes as she appeared on The One Show tonight.
She said: "We’re coming back with a classic Waterloo Road big bang, there’s going to be lots of topics discussed.
"There’s mental health discussed, there’s child homelessness, cost-of-living crisis, all of these terrible struggles that people are facing on a daily basis.
"So it’s going to have a lot of drama, it’s going to be a lot of highs, lows and everything in between in classic Waterloo Road style."
