Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has ramped up his offer to former Wales star Gareth Bale by promising to shave a golf course into Rob McElhenney ’s back in order to tempt him to the club.
The former Tottenham and Real Madrid star congratulated the Welsh club for their recent promotion to League Two - a 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood finally getting them over the line. Speaking in a video addressed to McElhenney, he said: “Hi Rob, just want to congratulate you on your promotion and everything you’re doing at Wrexham.”
In the aftermath of that video, the American actor indicated his intention to try and get Bale to put pen to paper on a return to football with a move to the Racecourse Ground. Writing on Twitter, he said: “Hey @GarethBale11 let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season,” alongside a host of Welsh flags.
Bale then replied with a cheeky tease. “Depends what course,” he wrote, with The R&A tagged. Reynolds has now attempted to intervene with an extreme offer.
Replying to Bale’s retort to McElhenney, he cheekily suggested: “I will shave a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back if you’ll give Wrexham a season.”
However, it appears that he has backtracked on that claim, having penned a follow-up tweet. Reynolds wrote: “Update: after an online image search, it appears Rob does not have the requisite body hair to support this plan.”

Bale initially retired from football earlier this year following a stint with MLS side Los Angeles FC. He had arrived in the United States following an injury-hit spell with Spanish giants Real Madrid - a period that included a brief return to former club Tottenham on loan.
In all, he made 13 appearances for LAFC and scored three goals. He actually enjoyed a dream end to his career as he scored a 128th-minute header in the MLS Cup final against Philadelphia Union to send the clash to a penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw.
His side were victorious from the spot as LAFC claimed the MLS Cup alongside the Supporters Shield. Speaking at the time, Bale said: "It's always nice to score in finals and I seem to have a knack of doing that.
"It's big. It's important for the club, it's important for the fans. We were down to 10 men and not really looking like we were going to get anything out of the game. So credit to everybody to keep pushing, keep fighting and, like I said, it was nice to get the goal and to help the team. Where it ranks, I'm not too sure, but it's a great feeling."
Since hanging up his boots, Bale has regularly been spotted on the golf course, whilst he also attended The Masters in Augusta back in April.
