Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are hoping to lead their club to promotion back to the Football League - but the famous pair are already celebrating Wales.
The actors popped the champagne corks after Wrexham women clinched their place in the Genero Adran Premier next season after winning the North title. The big spenders faced a massive winner-takes-all promotion play-off against Briton Ferry at the weekend and came out on top. The 1-0 win sparked celebrations with McElhenney taking to social media to congratulate the women on their huge victory.
Rebecca Pritchard became the hero after scoring the only goal of the game with just 15 minutes remaining, and Wrexham women will now compete in the big league next season. On Twitter, McElhenney said: "ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. CONGRATULATIONS @WrexhamAFCWomen!!!!!!!". For Wrexham's mens team they face a huge last three games as they attempt to gain promotion to League Two.
Wrexham welcome Yeovil Town to the Racecourse Ground tomorrow night knowing that a win will put them four points ahead of second place Notts County with just two games left. Boreham Wood and a visit to Torquay United on the last game of the season stand between them and promotion back to League Two.
Since Reynolds and McElhenney took over Wrexham in 2021 they've given the Welsh side a major lift, and the club as a whole have gone from strength to strength. The women's side have completed their mission for this season, and now the Hollywood stars will be hoping that the men's side can follow suit.
