Ryan Mason has indicated that there are "a lot of decisions to make" this summer about the current Tottenham squad. Unable to follow up last season's Champions League finish and potentially missing out on Europe altogether, it is a vital few months in north London as Spurs look to go forward as a club.
First of all requiring a new head coach and managing director of football, the Lilywhites then must take a look at their playing squad with players needing to be moved on and some fresh faces brought in. While of course all eyes will be on the club's transfer business, as is the case every summer, Mason had stated that the club "can't do transfer business without a manager because [it] doesn't fit his idea".
"Of course I think there is work because we have a big squad, a lot of players on loan and decisions to make. First of all there is a lot of decisions to make about our current squad. That's probably the priority," explained Mason when asked by football.london in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leeds United game.

"I think the most important work is probably away from the transfer window right now because you need a manager in place, you need commitment, you need an idea to know where you go. You can't do transfer business without a manager because it might not fit his idea.
"At the moment I believe we need an idea of what we want to do, who we want to be and stick to it. Recruit people for that and ultimately recruit players for that."
With Arne Slot now extending his contract at Feyenoord amid links with the Tottenham head coach vacancy, it remains to be seen who will replace Antonio Conte in the hotseat. Despite Spurs' struggles in recent years with the team falling behind their rivals, Mason fully believes it is still an attractive job.
"Absolutely. Yes," he said. "It’s history, it’s Tottenham Hotspur. It’s a big club — not just for managers, for staff members, players, anyone here.
"To feel the privilege and honour to represent this badge. If they don’t, then they shouldn’t be here. It’s really as simple as that."
