Ryan Kent and the Liverpool 'lies' claim that could follow departing Rangers winger back to Premier League

Ryan Kent could be on his way back to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Liverpool - when he hit out at his former club for "lying" to him.

Rangers announced their released list on Tuesday afternoon with Kent among five players who will be moving on once their contracts expire next month. He has 33 goals and 57 assists in more than 200 games at Ibrox but leaves for free four years after Steven Gerrard made his loan move from Anfield permanent.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are widely believed to be keen on the 26-year-old but boss but Beale hinted there may not be as much in that one as it seems. A host of Premier League clubs, including Everton, Leeds and newly-promoted Burnley, have been linked and could offer him a route back to England if his move to Turkey doesn't come to pass. Wherever he goes, playing regularly will be at the forefront of his priorities and quotes after he made his move to Ibrox permanent in 2019 have resurfaced.

Speaking then, a relieved Kent opened up on his struggles - and hit out at people behind the scenes at Anfield for "lying" about his role. He didn't seal his Ibrox return until September's deadline day and felt he was denied a full pre-season under Gerrard.

Kent said: “It was very tough (being frozen out at Liverpool). I had to stay mentally strong, when you are told you can do one thing and then you are lied to and it doesn’t happen, that is quite hard to take. I just had to keep myself fit and train on my own and make sure I keep my fitness levels up and I was waiting for a moment like this to arrive.

"There’s no bitter taste, the thing that I wanted from the start happened at the end so I am just happy with that. I would have liked to have been here (with Rangers) from the start, it is quite difficult watching it on the TV wishing I was part of some of the games.

“There were probably some slight concerns along the way when I thought this might not happen and I might have to plan for something else but I always had a feeling that it might go to the last day of the window and that’s what happened.”
