The ex-girlfriend of Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs has told a court on Wednesday how she became “a slave to his every need and every demand.”
Giggs, 48, denies using controlling and coercive behaviour against Kate Greville, 36, between August 2017 and November 2020. He is accused of assaulting her, causing actual bodily harm and the common assault of her younger sister.
The court heard Ms Greville gave a statement the day before the start of the trial in which she said she felt like “a slave” to the former United winger. Giving evidence, Ms Greville told defence counsel Chris Daw QC, cross-examining, that when Giggs told her to do something she would do it.

She said: "When Ryan said do something, I would do it. There was resistance sometimes but he made me feel like I had to do what he said, otherwise there would be consequences.”
Ms Greville told the court that Giggs’s alleged controlling behaviour also affected her friendships and that he isolated her from certain people and interfered with her ability to interact with her family. She also accused the former Wales manager of undermining and damaging her business.
On Tuesday (10 August), the court heard how Giggs allegedly had “full-on relationships” with eight women while he was with Ms Greville. She also claimed he was “almost like two people” during their relationship and how she saw early “red flags" in his behaviour.
Giggs denies all the allegations.
