SEATTLE - When it rains, it pours. That's the case at the moment for the always controversial Mexican-American boxer Ryan Garcia, who has once again grabbed the headlines and not for his athletic prowess.

25-year-old Garcia was arrested on Saturday, June 8 for felony vandalism at a Beverly Hills hotel, with the establishment accusing him of causing an estimated $15,000 in damage according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Garcia was arrested at around 5:45 p.m. after the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills called police accusing him of causing damage to a guest room and a hallway of the hotel. Following his arrest, Garcia was taken to a local hospital to get undisclosed medical care.

"It was determined that Mr. Garcia was a registered guest of the hotel and had caused damage to a guest room and the hallway of the hotel," Lt. Andrew Myers said in a statement. "Hotel management requested the arrest of Mr. Garcia for property damage."

Following his arrest, Garcia used his social media account on X to give his account of the incident, where he compared himself to pop star Britney Spears. He also drew a comparison between his circumstances and Donald Trump's legal troubles, and posted another tweet that read "Free Ryan."

But according to TMZ, this wasn't the first time Garcia caused trouble at the Waldorf Astoria hotel. The news outlet reported that Garcia had another incident earlier last week, when authorities responded to a call for a welfare check after one of Garcia's relatives said the boxer needed assistance.

TMZ obtained a video that shows Garcia being led out of the hotel in handcuffs.

Garcia's attorney, Darin T. Chavez, said in a statement that the arrest came "at an extraordinarily challenging time for Ryan, as he has been grappling with devastating news regarding his mother's health."

He added that Garcia is dealing with "an immense emotional burden" and said that the fighter's team is working diligently to provide him with the resources he needs.

Garcia's arrest is the latest chapter of issues surrounding the fighter off the ring. He faces a possible suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission after he tested positive for a banned substance following his win against Devin Haney in April 20.
