Ryan Garcia has revealed a mole in his training camp leaked an injury to rival Gervonta Davis prior to his defeat.
Garcia stepped into the ring with bitter rival Davis in a high-profile showdown in Las Vegas last weekend, in which he was dropped and stopped in the seventh round. Floyd Mayweather's protege landed a huge body shot which sent his opponent crumbling to the canvas, and Garcia was unable to beat the referee's count.
It had been a tense build-up to the fight with both fighters knowing their reputation and undefeated streaks were on the line, which led to several accusations from both camps. One came from 'Tank' who suggested that he knew how events unfolded when his rival sparred Mongolian partner Erdenebat Tsendbaatar.
It was suggested Garcia sustained an injury to the body in the training session that he used to his advantage in the fight. The social media star took to his Instagram page, posting after the loss: "Actually sad I had a mole in my camp. Like wtf that’s crazy but thank god it’s brought to light now."
He then added: "Also didn’t mean that to come off as an excuse or anything. I lost, period. I’ll come back but I’m just shocked that part of my team crossed me, someone close to me. But it’s a testimony that you must be aware of anyone." Despite it being suggested Tsendbaatar would be the likely source of information, he came to deny the rumours in a video on his own account.
He said during a video: "Who is Mole? What are you talking about? I am not mole. I don’t even speak English. I don’t even like Tank. I will fight him and KO him in the future. I was cheering for you to win against Tank. During our sparring, I tried to help you and sparred Tank style boxing. You are a great boxer. But next time, try to learn from sparring and hopefully you will not get hit by the same punch during the fight."

It was a devastating first professional loss for Garcia who will now be required to return to the drawing board before pursuing silverware at lightweight. Meanwhile Davis appears to have set up a huge showdown with the winner of Devin Haney's undisputed title defence against Vasyl Lomachenko next month.
Despite the nature of the loss, Garcia has vowed to bounce back and also explained why he was unable to return to his feet. "He just caught me with a good shot," the 24-year-old said after the loss. "I don’t want to make any excuses in here. He caught me with a good shot and I just couldn’t recover and that’s it. He caught me with a good body shot, snuck under me and caught me good. I couldn’t breathe. I was going to get back up, but I just couldn’t get up."
