Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has bombed Ryan Fraser into the Under-21 squad, telling the winger he "doesn't have a future" at St James' Park.
The Scotland star was initially one of the main beneficiaries of Howe's arrival at St James' Park but things quickly turned sour in his second spell under the former Bournemouth boss. He hasn't played since November and ahead of Scotland's clashes with Spain and Cyprus later this month, it looks like that won't be changing any time soon.
Steve Clarke was left furious after the 28-year-old was pictured training with Newcastle after pulling out of last November’s World Cup qualifying double header against Moldova and Denmark although that feud was put to bed with Fraser featuring in Scotland's last four games after apologising to his manager.
But his club gaffer has now bombed him out of the squad in a major dent to his chances of racking up more international minutes at Hampden later in March. Howe was asked in Fraser has a future under him and said: "Ryan training with U21s. I made a decision to concentrate on players who are committed to Newcastle, and for the benefit of the group. Life and football can change quickly, but at the moment he hasn’t."
