Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was asked a very important question during Tuesday’s media availability about Jim Harbaugh and Michigan.
No, it was not about the sign-stealing scandal. It was all about…boxing.
“I just noticed an email this morning that you can now bet on a celebrity boxing match between you and the guy who coaches up north. Are you in a good mood by the way?” ABC 6 sports director Clay Hall asked Day.
Day was mesmerized.
“Yeah, I mean, I get it, Clay,” Day said. “I know it’s the topic of conversation right now, but…” Day added before Hall continued.
“I’m not expecting you to say you’re gonna whoop this guy. I’m just curious. Have you ever been in the ring? Ever sparred?”
“I appreciate ya, Clay,” Day said to a chorus of laughter as he took a swig of water. “I’m not gonna say anything. I get commented on when I say no comment so I’m not gonna say anything.”
You can bet on who you would take in a Day vs. Harbaugh boxing match.

Ryan Day will not speak about it, though.

In the midst of the sign-stealing controversy at Michigan, a little levity is needed. Day didn’t lose sight of that in his response to the hypothetical boxing match on Tuesday.
