The Ohio State Buckeyes are having a quarterback battle, and no one is really talking about five-star transfer Julian Sayin as an option.
Sayin came to Columbus from Alabama this offseason and isn’t expected to be among the two highest-ranked quarterbacks for the Ryan Day-led program. He was the No. 1-ranked quarterback in the transfer portal.
Will Howard and Devin Brown have been battling it out for the starting spot, which many think the former will eventually have. However, Sayin’s future may be brighter than both those ahead of him.
Don’t believe us? All you have to do is listen to what OSU head coach Ryan Day said about the former high school standout.
“I mean, he has a good plan when he gets out there. Doesn’t want to get his hand held. I’ve been impressed with his approach,” said Day. “And like I said before, he’s got a really, really bright future. I mean, how fast he gets on the field will be just kind of up to him.”
Sayin was the third-best quarterback in the Class of 2023 and the 20th-best player nationally. While he’s not starting now, the talent is certainly there, and Day clearly views him as an integral piece of the future.

From Carlsbad, California, Sayin had 85 touchdowns and 10 interceptions throughout his last three seasons in high school and entered the transfer portal after Nick Saban’s retirement.
Sayin has a history of athletic family members as his older sister played collegiate soccer and his older brother was the quarterback at the University of Pennsylvania.
