Ruud van Nistelrooy has sent an emotional and heartfelt message to everyone at Manchester United after leaving the club for a second time.
The former striker, who scored 150 goals in 219 appearances in his time as a player at Old Trafford, departed following Ruben Amorim’s arrival, which came alongside several of his own coaches.
Van Nistelrooy had initially been appointed as Erik ten Hag’s assistant in the summer, but stepped in after his countryman’s dismissal in late October.
The Dutchman won three and drew one of his games, meaning he has the best win ratio in club history.
He also bonded with the fans as he did as a player, which he made note of in his message, which he shared across social media platforms.
“To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, in particular the backroom staff, the players and the fans. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible efforts and support.
