Newcastle United will face competition not only from clubs in the Premier League, but also from Europe, in the race to sign Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo has been heavily tipped to join fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, while Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool are among a host of English clubs credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.
The Netherlands international was also linked with Leeds United and Southampton during the summer transfer window.

Leeds were reportedly willing to break their club transfer record but Gakpo decided to stay put after being presented with the chance to sign for Leeds or Southampton.
He has notched 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games in all competitions for PSV Eindhoven this term, and has consolidated his club form with three goals in as many games at the World Cup.
His stake has increased as a result, and Van Nistelrooy has revealed that a number of European clubs are showing a keen interest.
Van Nistelrooy revealed via MEN in October: "It's not only Premier League clubs after him. His quality and form over the last three or four months has been exceptional. His stats and goals draw the attention of big clubs in European football.
"He is 23 and is focusing on his career with us at club level and having a great World Cup. He wants to continue that. When the time comes he will make decisions."
