Residents in a Lanarkshire town have said they are "ashamed" to walk along the Main Street because of the amount of rubbish that's been allowed to build up on it.
Locals living around Rutherglen town c entre have told Lanarkshire Live they are fed up with bin bags and other discarded items littering the pavement.
They want those responsible to stop littering and for South Lanarkshire Council to help out more too.
Sandra Smith said: Walking along the Main Street makes me ashamed to say I live in Rutherglen. The number of overflowing bins and fly-tipping of the likes of mattresses is disgusting.
"Why are bins left in the Main Street and not put round the back of the building?
"The bingo hall is getting run down and attracting vandals. Something needs to be done about it before it becomes dangerous."
Lanarkshire Live has previously reported on the bingo hall being vandalised.
Another resident, Rae Meiklejohn, said: " My heart sinks every time I walk along Rutherglen Main Street.
"The bags of rubbish and overflowing wheelie bins left, in particular but not only, near to the now closed and filthy bingo hall leaves me feeling ashamed of my home town.
"South Lanarkshire Council responded to complaints and cleared some of the mess but it is an ongoing issue. All this filth in addition to the fly-tipping is an eyesore and a health hazard."
Barry Cathie serves as a community councillor and has been campaigning for more to be done.
He said: "It's became an absolute eyesore when you are walking down the Main Street."
Concerned residents are worried that the ongoing issue could attract rats and other vermin.
South Lanarkshire Council has been contacted for comment.
