Russian Shelling Kills Five In Eastern Ukraine

Recent Russian shelling in Ukraine has resulted in multiple casualties, with five people killed in the town of Chasiv Yar and two more in the Kharkiv region. The attack in Chasiv Yar targeted a high-rise building and a private home, claiming the lives of men aged 24 to 38. Regional authorities have urged the remaining residents to evacuate due to ongoing conflict in the area.

Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed to have captured the town of Pivnichne in Ukraine's Donetsk region, although independent verification of this assertion is pending. Russian forces are advancing further into the eastern region, with the objective of fully occupying it, including the critical logistics hub of Pokrovsk.

Ukraine has also made a significant move by sending its forces into Russia's Kursk region, marking the largest incursion onto Russian soil since World War II. This action is intended to divert Russian troops away from the Donetsk front.

In response to a recent Russian attack on the city of Kharkiv, which resulted in six fatalities and numerous injuries, Ukrainian officials have called for the removal of restrictions on targeting capabilities for donated weapons. The strikes in Kharkiv have prompted Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to present a list of potential long-range targets within Russia to the United States for approval.

Amidst these developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision to dismiss the commander of the country's air force has raised questions, although officials have clarified that this move is not directly linked to recent events.

Additionally, in the Russian border region of Belgorod, five people were killed by Ukrainian shelling, with dozens more injured, including seven children. The situation in the region remains tense, with ongoing cross-border exchanges.
