
Russia’s energy company Gazprom says it is halting natural gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria, escalating tensions between the Kremlin and Europe over its energy supply and the widening fallout from Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
Russia’s threat on Wednesday to cut off other countries from its gas – if they do not pay Gazprom in Russian roubles versus other currencies – has added new urgency to plans to reduce and then end the continent’s dependence on Russia as a supplier of oil and gas.
