Russian forces have continued their advance south into Ukrainian villages in the Kharkiv region following a surprise cross-border assault that began four days ago. According to reports from the DeepStateMap monitoring group, two nearby settlements have fallen under either full or partial Russian control. However, Ukrainian military sources have confirmed that an attempted Russian advance on Lyptsi itself was successfully repelled by Ukrainian forces.
Russia's military strategy in the region includes heavy use of large glide bombs, which can carry significant amounts of explosives. These glide bombs are being deployed ahead of ground operations and are dropped from aircraft without entering Ukrainian airspace. Ukrainian National Guard Special Forces have reported at least 20 aerial attacks in one direction alone.
Further east, the town of Vovchansk remains a focal point for Russian forces. Despite this focus, Ukraine has managed to prevent a full-scale Russian assault on the town, maintaining a defensive stance in the area.
