Russia Ukraine war: How you can help vulnerable victims at risk because of conflict

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has shocked the world and created a terrible humanitarian crisis.

Hundreds of people, including small children, have been killed, families have been torn apart and millions have been forced to leave their homes.

It is impossible to watch and read about the harrowing scenes and not want to do something to help those caught in the crossfire.

So the Mirror has joined forces with Save the Children to raise urgent funds for the innocent victims of Vladimir Putin ’s war.

Save the Children is working to deliver supplies to families in Ukraine and to refugees who have fled the country. The charity says an estimated 7.5million young Ukrainians are at risk because of the conflict.

Donations from kind-hearted Mirror readers will pay for the delivery of cash and vouchers so families in the war-torn country can buy food and other essentials.

Save the Children is also seeking to support youngsters with their education and the traumas of war.

Your support will help provide life-saving essentials, as well as safe places for children suffering in sub-zero temperatures.

Gwen Hines, CEO of Save the Children UK, said: “The crisis is spiralling out of control and millions of children are at grave risk of physical harm and severe emotional distress.

“Any family forced from their home needs help with shelter, food, water – the absolutely basics.

“We’re also in the middle of winter, with temperatures well below zero, which makes the situation even more dangerous. We’re providing life-saving assistance. Please help.”

In addition to aiding young people in Ukraine, Save the Children is working with other charities to support the hundreds of thousands of refugees who have crossed the border into Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungry and Moldova.

The UN estimates that 600,000 Ukrainians have left the country but the EU believes as many as four million could end up trying to escape the Russian onslaught.
