Air alert warnings have sounded across Ukraine as Russia launched a massive missile attack. Ukrainian authorities reported the take-off of Tu-95 strategic bombers in the early hours of Thursday morning, with explosions heard soon after.
In Dnipro there were explosions shortly after 6am in the centre of the city. There were also reports of explosions in Zaporizhzhia, the capital, Kyiv, and the western city of Lviv. Andriy Sadoviy, the mayor of Lviv, said 10 Russian missiles had been aimed at the Lviv region. In Zaporizhzhia, close to the front line with Russian forces, there were reports of a damaged apartment building.
An oil depot in Kursk, Russia, has been blown up in a Ukrainian drone attack, according to reports circulating online. Videos showed a large fire at the site on Wednesday night. “As a result of an attack by a Ukrainian UAV in the Kursk region, a fire occurred at an oil depot,” said a Telegram account in the name of Roman Starovoit, Russian governor of the Kursk region. “According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. All special services are currently working on the spot. Please remain calm.”
Ukraine’s military said it sank a Russian landing ship in its latest sea drone attack against Moscow’s Black Sea fleet. Ukrainian military intelligence released video on Wednesday that it said showed several naval drones approaching the Ropucha-class large landing ship Cesar Kunikov off the coast of Crimea, before the damaged ship was shown turned on its side and sinking.
