A Russian drone strike on a passenger train just miles from Ukraine's border with Poland is raising new concerns that Moscow is pushing its war increasingly close to NATO territory while testing how far it can escalate without triggering a full-on confrontation with the Western alliance.
The strike Sunday hit a locomotive near Yahodyn, roughly two kilometers from the Polish border, shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and European security officials passed through the area. Former CIA Director David Petraeus was aboard another train at the station when the attack occurred. No casualties were reported on the trains.
