Gulf attacks continue as Iran says Trump 'killed' de‑escalation chance

On Saturday morning, US President Donald Trump had warned that “today Iran will be hit very hard" in comments on his Truth Social website. Trump added that "areas and groups of people" in Iran are "under serious consideration for complete destruction and certain death."

In the evening, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the country’s willingness to de-escalate has been "almost immediately killed" by Trump, accusing him of misreading Iran’s capabilities and intent.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a Saturday evening address that Israel and the US were close to securing full control of Iranian airspace.
