Former Rangers star John Lundstram has launched a passionate defence of under-fire Russell Martin. The Leicester City midfielder went public over his belief in the much-maligned former Ibrox boss, with both left aghast in the wake of the latest blow following Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Peterborough. Anger followed from the stands, with the Foxes now languishing 17th in the third tier of English football – a decade after they became Premier League champions. Martin is battling to keep fans onside. However, the former Rangers man reckons his boss is worth sticking with. Speaking to the Leicester City website after another chastening defeat, Lundstram said: "I know everyone has touched on it, this and that about the manager, but he is really top, really top. I know there is a bit of frustration surrounding the style of play. When it comes off, we look perfect. At times, little mistakes we are getting punished for. Which is unfortunate, because sometimes you get the rub of the green, you play rubbish and you win 1-0. I think we need to be a bit more tight defensively and stick together."
