Russell Martin has revealed he held discussions with Swansea City's owners after transfer deadline day over the long-term aims for the clubs.
The Swans ensured a frustrating window, bringing in five players while a total of 10 departed.
It comes as the Swans have lost back-to-back games against Hull City and Luton Town having claimed five points from their previous five outings.
And the head coach has stated his desire to continue to build for the 2022/23 campaign after what has been an up and down debut campaign in south Wales in terms of results.
"Speaking to the owners again last night [Wednesday], they’re so supportive of what we’re doing," he said.
"All we ever talk about is the long-term goal, of course they want to win more games in the short term as well, but in a tough run I couldn't have asked for more support from them.
"It’s about building something and taking a running start next season. This season now is about bringing everyone together.
"All I can ask is that everyone gets behind us and we’ll finish really strongly. It just prepares us for having a go next year.
"The long term is to try and get back into the Premier League. It’ll be done in a different way to a lot of the teams who are trying to get there. That’s the whole point in playing football this way.
"A lot of players left in the summer who weren't our players, a lot of goals left. A couple of people keep saying you made the play-offs, but it’s a very different team.
"They’re really clear in what they want, but they like what they’re seeing in terms of improvements in certain players. They’re really trusting in myself, Mark Allen and Julian Winter to deliver them what we want. I’m confident we can do that in time."
Swansea look set to be without Kyle Naughton for Saturday's clash with Blackburn Rovers.
The defender sustained a thigh injury in the opening half of Tuesday night's 1-0 loss to Luton Town and had to be withdrawn.
New signing Nathanael Ogbeta is expected to feature in the matchday squad for the contest with Tony Mowbray's outfit while Jamie Paterson could also be involved after returning to first-team training on Wednesday following an extended absence due to a contract dispute with the club's owners.
“Kyle is still being assessed, we are waiting on scan results,” said the Swans boss.
“I was hopeful after the game that it was a minor thing but he still had a bit of pain the following day so it is something we needed to have a look at.
“We will hopefully know more in the next few hours but it is looking unlikely that he will be involved at the weekend.”
And on Paterson, Martin commented: “It was great to have Pato back, we’ve missed him.
“He will need time to get back to where he was physically and mentally and doing what he does best.
“He is enjoying being here, the distractions have made it difficult but we hope he is over that and he is looking forward to putting that white shirt back on.
“It is a big ask for him to be involved at the weekend, but we will assess where he is at physically and go from there.
“He looked fine in training and it’s just good to have him back.”
Kick-off against Blackburn is at 5:30pm on Saturday.
