Russell Brand in 'pain' over heartbreaking loss as he reveals dog has died

Russell Brand has been left heartbroken after revealing that his beloved dog has died.

The comedian, 47, paid tribute to his golden retriever Carly, who he said was "full of spirit and joy and bounce".

Sharing a photo of Carly gazing out at a lake, he shared the sad news of her death and said that he and wife Laura Gallacher were in "pain" over her loss.

He wrote: "Today our dog Carly died. We inherited her from her first owners (who had died) via a mate.

"She was a lovely dog, all full of spirit and joy and bounce (and farts and night-barking) me and Laura will miss her but carry the love we felt amidst this passing pain.

"Thanks for her lovely life Unknowable, Unquenchable Cosmic Force that makes all possible."

His celeb friends flocked to the comments to send him love, with Kirsty Gallacher writing: "We loved her so much. The kindest soul, now rest easy beautiful Carly."

While Alan Carr wrote: "Aww mate how awful. Sending you lots of love."

Fearne Cotton commented with heart emojis: "Sending you all the love. She was so special."

Animal lover Russell often shares photos and videos of his pets and just two weeks ago posted a clip of cat Beatle snuggling Carly's armpit.

He's also a proud dad to German Shephard Bear, who he's often pictured enjoying cuddles with while on tour.

It comes after reports that Russell is planning to turn a village pub into a vegan restaurant.

The comedian and wife Laura - the younger sister to TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher - bought The Crown Inn pub in December 2021 for a reported £850,000.

The Grade II-listed building is the only pub in the village of Pishill in Oxon but if the 47-year-old comedian and actor gets his way, it will spark a frenzy among the local residents.

Russell, who lives in nearby Henley-on-Thames, intends to turn the establishment into a vegan restaurant - a lifestyle he has adopted since 2019 after many years as a vegetarian.
