Russell Brand has revealed that he and wife Laura Gallacher are expecting their third child later this year.
The comedian, 48, and the 36-year-old author are already parents to daughters Mabel, six, and Peggy, four.
The 48-year-old confirmed the news in a new interview with Stephen Bartlett on the Diary of a CEO podcast and gave a rare insight into his experience of fatherhood.
Bartlett shared: “You fell in love and you’ve got two children. You’ve got a third on the way, around the corner. That’s a very special love you have found.”
Responding to his question about fatherhood, the TV star shared: “It taught me there is a lot more important in this world than me.
“It taught me that love is real. It teaches you everything to become a father. All lessons are there.”
Brand then became tearful as he started to talk of a “future” for his children that he “won’t be part of”.
He continued: “Any old man, any old woman. My little girls, it’s just so beautiful.”
The Get him to the Greek star also explained that parenthood has taught him that “you can’t be a father to anyone else before you’re a father to yourself”.
Brand’s rare insight into his personal life comes after the former showbiz star chose to settle down after marking 20 years of sobriety, having overcome issues with drugs and alcohol.
The British star admitted that because of his past addictions, he has to check in with himself to ensure he feels like he’s “enough” to look after his kids properly.
He continued: “I’ve been fortunate enough through crisis and despair to find myself connected to a group of other people the same as me, who cannot cope with reality unless they use drink or drugs, who provide me with a paradigm and a programme for moving forwards.”
Brand married illustrator Laura, who is also the younger sister of broadcaster Kirsty Gallacher, 47, in 2017.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor was previously married to American pop star Katy Perry.
