Rumer Willis pays tribute to dad Bruce in first Father's Day since his aphasia diagnosis

Bruce Willis ' eldest daughter Rumer Willis has said it's a "privilege" to be one of his children, as the family mark their first Father's Day since announcing that he has aphasia.

It was stated earlier this year that the father-of-five, 67, would be stepping away from acting due to health issues, with his family sharing he has cognitive difficulties.

Bruce's family said he had been diagnosed with aphasia, with the condition affecting a person's language and speech.

And to mark their first Father's Day since sharing the news, his eldest daughter Rumer, 33, took to Instagram earlier to further discuss her experience as one of his children.

Rumer Willis shared some throwback photos of her father Bruce Willis to mark Father's Day (@rumerwillis/Instagram)

Alongside a series of throwback photos, she wrote in a post: "Daddio. What a privilege it is every day to be your daughter. I love you so much. You are the coolest cat in town."

Her sister Tallulah Willis, 28 - the youngest of Bruce's three daughters with his ex-wife Demi Moore, 59 - also took to the social media platform to pay tribute to their father.

She posted a couple of photos and wrote in the caption: "You showed me how to love people from a smile [and] that strength resides in the self possessed goofball."

Tallulah continued: "Taught me this neat way to make your arms grow and lengthen to hold as many people as possible close and cosy. You are by far my coolest friend."

Bruce's family issued a statement on social media earlier this year, in which they announced his departure from acting, with them citing it was due to his health.

They said he had been "experiencing some health issues" and had been diagnosed with aphasia, which they said in the statement had been "impacting his cognitive abilities".

The statement was signed by his wife Emma Heming Willis, 44, and his children Rumer, Scout, 30, Tallulah, Mabel, nine, and Evelyn, seven. His ex-wife Demi was also a signatory.
