Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reminded State Department employees to follow government ethics rules, just one day after the White House asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece, according to The Daily Beast. While Rubio did not mention Guilfoyle by name, his message came amid mounting allegations about her conduct while serving in the role.
In correspondence obtained by Bloomberg, he stressed the importance of maintaining professional integrity and keeping personal interests separate from public duties. “As part of demonstrating our personal and professional integrity, I expect employees to avoid conflicts of interest in our work, to act impartially, and to avoid using our public offices for private gain,” Rubio wrote.
