According to a spokesperson from Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s office, Ruben Gallego and David McCormick have been invited to attend orientation, which begins Tuesday. Initially, Schumer’s office had stated that neither candidate had been invited due to their races not being called yet. Senate Republicans and Independents from various political backgrounds had advocated for McCormick to be included in the new member orientation. GOP Sen. Mike Lee went as far as to declare that he and several colleagues would escort McCormick into the building if necessary. Additionally, McCormick was invited to participate in GOP conference elections scheduled for Wednesday.
