Ruben Amorim coaching staff: Incoming Man Utd boss could be set for quick-fire shake-up with new appointments

Ruben Amorim could be set to stage a quick-fire shake-up of Manchester United’s backroom staff ahead of his expected move to Old Trafford, according to reports.

The Sporting CP boss is the overwhelming favourite to replace Erik ten Hag following the Dutchman’s sacking on Monday, less than 24 hours after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at West Ham.

Amorim insists his future is yet to have been decided but the Portuguese giants have confirmed an official approach from United, who have placed club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy in interim charge of the first-team.

Ten Hag brought Van Nistelrooy onto his coaching staff in July, a step-down in role for the former Netherlands striker, who had previously managed PSV Eindhoven.

Rene Hake, who had been in charge of Go Ahead Eagles between 2022 and 2024, also joined Ten Hag’s set-up after the departures of Steve McClaren, Mitchell van der Gaag and Benni McCarthy.

However, more change could be afoot at Old Trafford in the coming weeks if, as expected, Amorim is appointed.

According to iNews, Van Nistelrooy expects his short time at the club to come to a quick-fire end as Amorim is almost certainly bound to bring in his trusted staff.

Assistant coaches Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido have followed the current Sporting manager throughout his career and are expected to do so again in the event of his move to Manchester.
