RTS Awards: It's A Sin's Callum Scott Howells nominated for Best Actor and Best Breakthrough

Welsh actor Callum Scott Howells, who shot to fame for his heartbreaking portrayal of Colin in the emotional Channel 4 drama It's A Sin, has been nominated for two Royal Television Society Awards.

In 2021 Callum played Colin Morris-Jones, a Welsh boy who works as an apprentice at a Savile Row tailor in London, in the 1980s and 1990s set show It's A Sin.

The show explores what it was like to be a gay young man in London in the 1980s and early 1990s where little was known about AIDS and any treatments for it.

Sadly Callum's character Colin contracts AIDS and passes away with Callum's portrayal of Colin pulling at viewer's heartstrings and earning him a BAFTA Cymru for Best Actor.

Now Callum has been nominated for two Royal Television Society Awards - Best Male Actor and the Breakthrough Award. For Best Actor he will be up against his It's A Sin co-star Olly Alexander for his portrayal of Richie in the show.

Fellow It's A Sin cast member Keeley Hawes has also been nominated for Best Female Actor and the show itself has been nominated for Best Limited-Series.

The show's Welsh writer, Russell T Davies, who will be returning to Doctor Who, has also been nominated for Best Writer-Drama for It's A Sin.

The award winners will be announced during a ceremony in London on March 29.
