RTE viewers all saying the same thing as Ultimate Hell Week returns

The popular endurance challenge that is RTE's Ultimate Hell Week returned to our screens this evening with viewers loving it as much as ever.

This year's line-up is particularly heavy on sporting figures from a broad range of disciplines so sports fans were especially hooked from the dramatic opening sequence which was beautifully shot as it tracked them swimming through freezing cold water.

Twitter was alight with praise throughout the episode as the likes of Eric Donovan, David Gillick, Billy Holland, Aisling Daly, Setanta O'hAilpin and Oisin Murphy got started in their six-day training regime which is a condensed version of the selection process for the Special Forces - which boasts a 90% failure rate.

Each of the 20 celebrities taking part has a designated charity that they're raising awareness and money for.

And that's just one reason why viewers were quick to heap praise on all participants.

Joan wrote: "It's only the first night and I feel their pain!!! #UltimateHellWeek #hellweek #omg"

Denise said: "Is it me or is this year’s #HellWeek even tougher than last year?!"

While Mairead commented: "This has to be the worst hell week yet. Hats off to everyone putting themselves forward. I would never be able!"

Caroline added: "I wouldn't sign up for Ultimate Hell week for all the tea in China! I'm anxious just watching this!"

Similarly, Padraig said: "Epic first show for this series...gwan the lads...top class as always..."

Sam agreed: "Brilliant start to #HellWeek can't wait to see what's ahead for them next week."

Cork hurling fan Alan was impressed by the fitness levels still possessed by former goal-getter Setanta O'hAilpin.

He tweeted: "Hope Pat Ryan is watching... Setanta would still do a job for us."

Lastly, Colin cheered on the rugby players involved as they took part in a gruelling push-up challenge. "Hon the #rugby team! @fergmcfadden @billyholland @griffinciara94 #HellWeek."
