RTE's Miriam O'Callaghan rubs shoulders with Premier League legend at Wimbledon

RTE presenter Miriam O'Callaghan was spotted in the background of a match at Wimbledon before later sharing photos from her day out - where it turns out she was sat beside Arsenal legend Martin Keown.

The rugged former centre-back was a regular for The Gunners in their successful years under Arsene Wenger which included 10 league appearances during their famed 'Invincibles' season of 2003/04.

The Prime Time host shared the below photos from her day out and joked that she was initially spotted by her show colleague Paulette O'Connor.

She said: "It was a real treat today to get to @Wimbledon for the first time-great matches and even got to be on de telly - pic courtesy of ⁩@pauletteoconnor ⁩of @RTE_primetime who spotted us!

"I was also sitting beside ace football legend & commentator ⁦@martinkeown5⁩ - fab day."

The main buzz around SW19 yesterday was men's world number one Novak Djokovic having to survive a scare in his quarter-final against Jannik Sinner.

The veteran Serb lost the first two sets before showing his trademark resolve to reel off the last three and book a semi-final date against home favourite Cameron Norrie.

Meanwhile in the women's draw Ons Jabeur and Tatjana Maria won their quarter-finals against Marie Bouzkova and Jule Niemeier respectively.

Perhaps the most intriguing storyline to emerge from the day, however, revolved around tournament officials pleading with players and coaches not to avail of their entire daily food and drink allowance of €104.

The issue arose after one coach was spotted sneaking away with 27 yoghurts.

According to i news , tournament officials have emailed competitors asking them to show restraint when spending their food and drink expenses.

The system is put in place so competitors don't have to worry about bringing their own, or sourcing snacks for themselves, especially on the day of a game, Mirror UK reports.

However it seems tournament bosses are less than impressed with how the expenses are being used. A report from the I suggests players and coaches have been using their expenses as a target amount, with the playing staff spending the budget sometimes carelessly.

As a result, all those given a food and drink tariff have been asked to be more 'judicious' when using their allowance, in order to stop players spending their expenses unnecessarily. Despite the concerns, it is understood that Wimbledon bosses will not be reviewing the food and drink allowances.
