RTE Prime Time viewers have been praising a guest on the show from Tuesday night after he told his story of a life-long struggle to cope with the abuse he experienced at the hands of the Christian Brothers.
Paul Grealish, an Irish publican, sat down with Miriam O’Callaghan for a moving interview. He bravely told his story of suppressing the memories of his abuse, to later actioning them and sending the guilty party to jail years later.
A 77-year-old former Christian Brother was sentenced to 27 months in prison today, with the final seven months suspended, after being convicted of the abuse of the schoolboy 50 years ago.

Mr. Grealish described the judgement as the "end of a 50-year journey to justice for me".
After the interview aired on RTE One, viewers flocked to Twitter to commend Mr. Grealish on his ‘bravery’ and ‘courage’ for speaking out on such a sensitive topic for many.
“Listening to Paul Grealish telling his heartbreaking story. I am proud of him for going public. I hope it helps save other children from that awful ordeal that his 9 & 10-year-old self went through,” one viewer wrote.
A second said: “Well done to Paul Grealish, very brave, such a long time to wait for justice”.
“Well done Paul great bravery in what you have done , and finally that monster is where he deserves to be #rtept,” a third added.
Among the many comments appearing online was another message which read: “Paul is bravery and courage personified!!
“Even after so much struggle and trauma, he has not allowed his predator to squash his generous spirit and optimism. Excellent interview #rtept”.
