RTE Liveline viewers were left shocked after a caller claimed to spot Padre Pio in her bannisters.
Among the many people ringing in to tell their personal stories about how the Italian Saint touched their lives was Kay who said: “This is unbelievable, this is true.
“I had builders in the house and we got wooden stairs put in and it as varnished and then they were doing the banisters upstairs and my husband was giving them a hand and he was sanding down the banisters upstairs and he stopped and he turned to the men and said will you come in and have a look at this.

“They said ‘oh my god, I can’t believe that that’s Padre Pio!’
“His face is in the banisters upstairs and that has been sanded and varnished many many times and his face is still there as prominent as when it first came. It is unbelievable.
“You can see his face, the high forehead and you can see his beard and his eyes.”
Joe Duffy responded in a similar tune to listeners and said: “Yeah, but that could be anybody.”
To which Kay responded “Oh no! It is Padre Pio, it is the image of Padre Pio.”
Listeners have been weighing in online after Liveline shared the infamous image of the banisters, and people are not convinced.
One took to Twitter in response and wrote: “I have great belief in St Pio of Pietrelcina, but I just can't see the resemblance.”
Another said: “It’s a knot in the wood like every piece of wood.”
A third wrote: “Kay needs an urgent visit to Specsavers by the looks of it.”
