Roz Purcell launches VHI Women’s Mini Marathon as it returns for first time in two years

Roz Purcell has launched the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon as it returns for the first time in two years.

The first physical event since 2019 will take place on Sunday, 5 June in Dublin City Centre.

It will be the 40th year of the 10km mini marathon and it will be a celebration of community spirit whether competitors participate with friends, family or do it solo.

David O’Leary, General Manager, Women’s Mini Marathon, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be back this year with our physical event, allowing women from across the country to come together once more and enjoy the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon.

“It’s a particularly special year for us, as we celebrate the 40th year of this national institution.

“We were overwhelmed with the response to our virtual events over the past two years, which saw thousands of women taking part in locations all over the country, but this year we can’t wait to have everyone join us as we return to the streets of Dublin.

“We hope women all over Ireland will join us this June to celebrate the special milestone of our 40th year.”

Roz Purcell and thousands of other women will take part in the marathon that has helped hundreds of charities raise vital funds.

It can be difficult to fit training into a hectic lifestyle, so Vhi has teamed up with Roz to help women prepare for the mini marathon.

Brighid Smyth, Head of Corporate Communications in Vhi said: “The 2022 Vhi WMM will celebrate togetherness, and whether you participate with friends, family, colleagues or solo you’ll be part of a special community.

“The event has also been instrumental in helping hundreds of charities raise money for their causes and we are really proud to be the Title sponsor especially for this milestone anniversary.

“We are really excited to come together again and enjoy this iconic event in person.

"We understand that it can be difficult to fit training into our busy lives and so have teamed up with some expert partners, to help participants to prepare for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon in a manageable way.”

Registration for the event is now open on vhiwomensminimarathon.ie.
