Royals snub Lilibet's birthday as Harry and Meghan's daughter turns two

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter Princess Lilibet has celebrated her second birthday - but the Royal Family are yet to publicly send their best wishes.

King Charles' youngest grandchild turned two on Sunday but messages from the monarch or any of the Duke of Sussex's family did not appear on official websites or social media platforms throughout the day.

Prince Harry was briefly reunited with his family for the King's Coronation but relations are said to be strained following the publication of the Duke's bombshell memoir and Netflix series.

Rewind 12 months ago, both Charles - who was then the Prince of Wales - and Prince Harry's brother Prince William sent well wishes on Twitter to Lilibet as she celebrated her first birthday during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II.

However, none of the royals appear to have done so this time around, including Princess Eugenie who is a close ally of Harry and Meghan Markle.

Meghan gave birth to Lilibet on June 4, 2021 - and she was named after her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

Lilibet was born at 11.40am at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California weighing 7lbs and 11oz.

Her father Harry wrote in his memoir Spare about the moment she was born.

He wrote: "I wanted to say: Hello. I wanted to say: Where have you come from? I wanted to say: Is it better there? Is it peaceful? Are you frightened? Don’t be, don’t be, all will be well. I’ll keep you safe."

It's believed Harry and Meghan were planning to celebrate Lilibet with her older brother Prince Archie and grandmother Doria.

Last year, Lilibet's first birthday fell during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

She travelled to the UK with her parents and brother where she met her grandfather King Charles III and great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II for the first time.

In Spare, Harry shared some heartwarming details of the sweet moment including how she latched onto the late monarch's shins.

He said his grandmother described Archie and Lilibet as the "sweetest children".

He added: "She'd expected them to be a bit more…American, I think? Meaning, in her mind, more rambunctious.”

Lilibet's first birthday was celebrated on the grounds of Frogmore Cottage at Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex invited a number of close friends and family members to a low-key back garden picnic while attending the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

It is understood the relaxed event included all the usual features of a one-year-old's birthday - such as birthday cake, balloons, party face painting and games.

Attendees reportedly included Zara and Mike Tindall's three children, Mia, Lena and Lucas, as well as Savannah and Isla, the daughters of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly.
