Royal 'jury out' over Kate Middleton and Prince William's social media blitz, expert says

The "jury is still out" within the royal household over the Prince and Princess of Wales' latest social media blitz, an expert has claimed.

In the past few weeks, fans have noticed a change with Prince William and Kate's Twitter and Instagram accounts and the content it posts.

One of the biggest changes is the addition of slick behind-the-scenes videos, with several posted over King Charles' Coronation weekend.

One, which was posted to their YouTube channel, even gave a sneak peek inside their Kensington Palace home, getting ready to attend the historic event.

But despite many fans seeming to love the glossy updates, royal correspondent Rebecca English has said there is some trepidation within those working for the royal household on whether it is the best way to promote the monarchy.

Speaking to the Daily Mail's Palace Confidential show, she explained: "The Waleses have been looking at this for a while and they have really ramped it up since Easter - how do we tell our story to younger people and how do we engage them and show people what we are doing?

"Not just us as a family but the work we are doing and the difference we are trying to make whether it is homelessness, mental health, education, or the environment.

"One of the ways they have decided to do this is to be a bit slicker with their social media because that is how young people consume their news nowadays.

"Now the jury is still out a little bit on whether this is the right way to do it because these social media clips are almost too well put together.

"So the jury is still out amongst the wider royal household but there is support for them trying to engage people in a different way."

Royal fans believe they can see a picture of William and Harry in Kensington Palace (THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF WALES)

It comes as royal fans believe they spotted William making a subtle nod to his estranged younger brother Prince Harry in one of these behind-the-scenes clip.

In one film posted on their YouTube channel detailing footage from King Charles' celebratory Coronation weekend - William, Kate and their two younger children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis can be seen getting ready to attend the crowning at their Kensington Palace home.

The four all appear one by one in what appears to be a living room at their London home before setting off for Westminster Abbey.

Eagle-eyed royal fans have spotted that when William's daughter Charlotte enters the room, framed pictures can be seen displayed on top of a piano.

And they claim that one shows a stunning picture taken of William and Harry alongside their late mother Princess Diana, which was used for her 1995 Christmas card.

The card was sent a year before she divorced King Charles, then Prince of Wales, and two years before her untimely death at the age of 36.

Royal fans spotted the photo on Tik Tok with one saying: "I honestly wish Harry and William could come together. Diana would be devastated."

The Coronation was the first time the two warring brothers had been seen at the same event since the release of Harry's controversial memoir Spare.

In the explosive book, the Duke of Sussex accused his older brother William of physically attacking him during a heated row. He also dished on a disagreement between his wife Meghan Markle and sister-in-law Kate over bridesmaids' dresses in 2018.
