Summer looks promising with a city hotspot offering free music gigs to the public every Thursday and Friday over the next few months.
IMMA Nights is hosting a variety of music performances this summer that include DJ sets, guitarists and solo singers in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. The nightly concerts are free of charge for the public to enjoy.
The performances will take place every Thursday and Friday, with the adjacent Flying Dog Café staying open till 8pm for attendees.
This Friday’s performance features DJ Nigel Wood, who plays dance music from far flung corners of the globe for audiences.
Nigel is a veteran DJ with 25 years of experience who gives a voice to minority cultures and experiences in his music. He will play the first Friday of every month in the IMMA grounds from 6.30pm to 8pm until September.
Other promising acts include the Slow Moving Clouds, a Dublin-based post- folk group who will be performing in Kilmainham on June 24.
Their music has a rich Nordic and Irish influence. The group previously performed in the 3Arena alongside famous Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi.
IMMA organisers say that the performances will take place come rain or shine and that attendees should wear appropriate footwear to help them over the cobbles.
