The Princess Royal and The Duchess of Cambridge have carried out their first ever joint engagement, visiting the Royal College of Midwives and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists HQ in London.
The much anticipated pairing has been warmly received by royal fans on social media following reports that a request for the duo's attendance came from the "very top".
The engagement saw Kate, who is a patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), and Princess Anne, who is a patron of the Royal College of Midwives, meet with several members of staff and learn about the improvements to maternal care.
The two popular royals met representatives from Tommy’s National Centre for Maternity Improvement to learn about digital tools being developed to support women with higher risk pregnancies.
During the visit, Anne and Kate took part in a roundtable discussion with sector experts and new mothers discussing the measures being taken to tackle inequalities in maternity care.
The royal pairing has been praised by many experts since it was announced. Richard Fitzwilliams said: "It's a very good idea because this is maximising the potential of members of the Royal Family who are popular and hard working.
"This dream team pairing, it's been called, I think this is a really good idea and I'm sure that it will happen again."
It is clear that royal fans on social media feel the same about the duo, with many expressing their hopes that Anne and Kate will make regular joint appearances in the future.
