With the month of July and hot summer weather well and truly here, children up and down the country are looking forward to finishing school this month and enjoying the summer holidays. Today, July 8, marks Prince George and Princess Charlotte's last day at Thomas's Battersea Prep School in London, and not just for the academic year.
George and Charlotte have been pupils at Thomas's since the age of four, and have, undoubtedly, made great friends with their fellow pupils. Today may be an emotional day for the sibling duo, as they are reportedly moving schools following the Cambridge family's apparent move to Berkshire.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be upping sticks this summer and moving away from the hustle and bustle of London to the Queen's Windsor estate. Taking their three children with them, George and Charlotte are set to join their younger brother, Louis at a brand new school in Berkshire.

Although Kate and William will be moving out of their Kensington Palace home, it is not goodbye forever, as they will use their London pad as a working base. According to the Daily Mail, the school that the three Cambridge children will be enrolling at is Lambrook, which is situated near Ascot.
Apparently, Kate and William have visited Lambrook several times to make sure it fits the bill for their children. William was even spotted talking about Latin lessons with one pupil.
The school is co-educational, meaning all three Cambridge children could attend; one term sets parents back £7,000, with a further £1,481 required for boarding. Many Lambrook alumni end up going to other prestigious schools, including Eton.
The Queen is said to be at the heart of the family's decision to move to Windsor, although the children are also rumoured to play a huge part. An insider told the Daily Mail: "[Prince William] and the Duchess also spend a lot of time with [the Queen] with the children.
"It's one of the things that has hastened their move to Berkshire this summer. Losing the Duke of Edinburgh has a left a big hole in all their lives. He was a great counsel to William and he feels very protective of his grandmother."
Friends of the family have claimed that, once the Cambridge children have made their way through their school years, Kate and William will move back to Anmer Hall - their countryside bolthole which was gifted to them by the Queen after they wed. But for now, Kate and William hope to provide a freer childhood for their brood in Berkshire than the one they had in London.
An insider told the Sunday Times: "The reality is they are quite confined in what they can do in London. The kids can't go into the park and kick a football with friends; their plan is to be there for the next 10 to 15 years, then move to Anmer, which is so special to them."
