The Queen won't be in attendance at Ladies' Day of Royal Ascot 2022, but Day 3 of the festival will have a royal atmosphere all the same.
That's as some of racing 's elite gear up for Thursday's Gold Cup at 4.20pm, the crown jewel of this week's extravaganza and one of the biggest dates in the calendar. Aidan O'Brien has the favourite, Kyprios, and returns hoping to enhance his reputation as the Gold Cup's most decorated trainer.
Not if Frankie Dettori has anything to say about it, however, as the legendary jockey looks to win aboard Stradivarius for the fourth time in five years. John Gosden 's eight-year-old star won this race three times in as many editions between 2018 and 2020, and victory on Thursday would see him draw level with Yeats as the joint-best horse in Gold Cup history.
The action doesn't stop there, however, with seven races on the slate for what will be the biggest day for many Royal Ascot fans. Mirror Sport breaks down the runners and timings for each of those stops, as well as instant updates and the latest race results
