Roy Keane warns Cristian Romero: Manchester United will remember Harry Maguire taunt after own goal

Roy Keane warned Cristian Romero that Manchester United players will remember his antics after Harry Maguire’s own goal at Old Trafford.

Tottenham fought back to level their Premier League clash on Saturday at 2-2 after the United captain slid Sergio Reguilon’s cross past David De Gea, with Romero lurking behind.

The Argentine promptly shouted in Maguire’s face as Spurs celebrated, although it was the Red Devils who had the last laugh thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Keane said on Sky Sports afterwards: “Not good, no. Not good, getting all up for that. You remember. When you’re a player, you take note of that, don’t worry.”

He added: “You can’t be too critical of Maguire. I’ve been critical of him, but he’s doing his best. It’s an honest mistake and these things happen in football.”

Former Tottenham centre-back Michael Dawson also warned Romero that the incident could come back to haunt him.

He noted: “Don’t like that. It comes back to haunt you. Certainly as a defender, you make mistakes, things like that don’t go right. You don’t like to see that. It could be you next week.”

Gary Neville added: “That’s no good.”
